WELCOME TO BEYOND THE BUBBLE
ABOUT
Over the past year, many of us have reflected upon the idea of racial equity. How do we uphold the values of antiracism in our lives? How do certain practices and policies in our communities inhibit people of color from equitable treatment? And we've come to realize that our nation is in the midst of two crises: COVID-19 and systemic racism. Both of these crises intertwine in the way COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting many communities of color. And over the summer, we explored just that. We spoke with many researchers, COVID-19 survivors, and individuals that have been negatively affected by the public health system to understand the ways that racial discrimination affect health outcomes in Cleveland. So, please browse through our website and read our articles to learn more about our research in racial health inequity.
And we're not stopping here. Our goal is to spark school wide discussions about racial inequity. We have many exciting plans for the school year (including a podcast!), so keep a look out for updates on this website!

WHY "BEYOND THE BUBBLE"
As private school students, we live in a figurative "bubble" in which many of us may not know of or discuss problems of systemic racism. These longstanding and prevalent issues happening beyond our “bubble" may not seem to affect us at first glance but are very much close to our communities and necessary for us to understand. It’s important that, from the comfort of our private school education, we recognize our privileges and how we can engage ourselves in the community around us.
